Recognition
  • The award ceremonies for the winners will occur at their place of business with the company’s employees and/or key personnel. Invitations to attend can be sent out to local media, dignitaries, and vendors in support of the accomplishment;
  • Press releases will be sent out to local media announcing the winners;
  • An all-weather banner will be ordered by BBB® announcing the winner. The banner shall become the property of Winner to use as they like in accordance with the BBB Torch Awards advertising rules;
  • A BBB Torch Awards trophy will be given to the winner;
  • All winners will be posted on the BBB website.

Provided there is prior review and approval from Better Business Bureau for all draft proofs of any advertisement or announcement, a winner may do any or all of the following:

  • Reproduce the following graphic with appropriate modifications:

  • State the following: “[Year] Winner, Better Business Bureau® of Central Oklahoma Torch Awards for Ethics”;
  • Reproduce a photograph of their receipt of the award, provided the award year is clearly visible;
  • Issue announcements and press releases about receipt of the award within two weeks of its receipt; and/or
  • Make a brief factual statement about the award and the required business qualifications.

Provided there is prior review and approval from Better Business Bureau for all draft proofs of any advertisement or announcement, a runner-up recipient may do any or all of the following:

  • Reproduce the following graphic with appropriate modifications:

  • State the following: “[Year] Runner-up, Better Business Bureau® of Central Oklahoma Torch Awards for Ethics”;
  • Issue announcements and press releases about being a runner-up for the award within two weeks of the awards ceremony; and/or
  • Make a brief factual statement about the award and the required business qualifications.

The recipient may advertise within BBB’s geographic service area of Central Oklahoma. In addition, businesses with all locations in the Central Oklahoma geographic service area may advertise their Torch Award wherever they do business in the following media:

  • Newspapers, periodicals, direct mail, billboards, annual reports, posters, flyers, television and radio spots;
  • Offline yellow pages advertisements and directories; and
  • On the internet at the company’s website (This is the only instance where a company may advertise its receipt of an award outside of BBB’s service area.)

The winner or recipient may advertise for the award indefinitely, but only as long as they maintain a satisfactory Business Review at BBB and follow the above guidelines.

With your employees:

  • Brief HR and employee-relations specialists about Award.
  • Place the BBB-issued news release on company bulletin boards.
  • Put story in your internal newsletter about receiving Award.
  • Have supervisors announce the award, its meaning, and value.
  • Place mention of Award on your intranet site/internal communication.
  • Post pictures of receiving Award on your intranet site/internal communication.
  • Place BBB-provided video on your intranet site/internal communication.

With your customers/clients:

  • Send an announcement of receiving the Award via Twitter, Facebook, email, and your social media channels.
  • Put story in your customer newsletter about receiving Award.
  • Place mention of Award on your website.
  • Post pictures of receiving Award on your website.
  • Post announcement of Award on all social media outlets, and on your business LinkedIn page.
  • Position note of receiving BBB Torch Award on your email signature line.

With your vendors/suppliers:

  • Brief vendor-relations personnel about Award.
  • Send an announcement of receiving the Award via Twitter, Facebook, email, USPS mail.

In your sales presentations:

  • Brief sales staff about Award and its meaning and value.
  • Put Torch Award logo on business cards, letterhead, print collateral.
  • Put BBB-issued news release in a sales presentation.
  • Display trophy and information about the award in trade show and recruiting booth displays to differentiate your company.

At your company’s location and in the community:

  • Purchase replicas of award for all locations.
  • Use Torch Award logo on “giveaways” for customers or for use at trade shows.
  • Highlight in any Board of Directors meetings.

With Media:

  • Send news release with photo to local news media that cover the businesses where all company locations are located.
  • Send news release with photo to all trade/professional media that cover the company and the industry segment.
  • Send news release with photo to all bloggers that write about your company and industry segment.
  • Use Torch Award in newspaper, radio and TV and billboard advertising.

All Torch Award advertising and promotion must adhere to the Council of Better Business Bureaus Torch Award program advertising guidelines.
